Types of Tobacco
In the world are cultivated many different kinds of tobacco which have their unique taste. In different countries the types of tobacco very depending on tobacco classes. Next factors influence tobacco taste: soil, sun, rains, fertilization. Most cigarettes use American blend which consists of Virginia, Burley and Oriental tobaccos. For example, Marlboro cigarettes.
Five most popluar types of tobacco used in modern tobacco industry are:
1. Virginia
It is cured by smoke from open fires. In the USA it is grown in Virginia , northern middle Tennessee, central Kentucky. Virginia tobacco is low in oils and high in suger. The leaves may be lighter or medium brown. Ligher leaves have a spicier flavor while darker have more intense tobacco taste.
2. Burley
Burley tobacco is an air-cured tobacco. It is low in sugar and high in oils. It has a nutty flavor.
3. Oriental tobacco
It is a sun-cured, highly aromatic type of tobacco which is grown in Turkey, Bulgaria and Greece. It is high in sugar and very aromatic.
4. Maryland
This is Virginia tobacco grown in Maryland, USA, and is characterized with mild flavor.
5. Carolina
This is Virginia tobacco grown in Carolina, USA, and like Maryland it has a mild taste.
